Tools for Pinterest: Stipple.com

Hi All!

This is the last post for this series on tools for Pinterst.com. There are still 22 more posts as part of the Ultimate Blog Challenge which will go until the end of July. If you want additional info on the tools to make Pinterest.com work for your business leave me a message and we may revisit this during the challenge.

I read about this tool in the April 2012 issue of Black Enterprise.  If you think Shopinterest is awesome wait till you see what this one does.
May I present Stipple .com (formerly Stipple.it) in its founders own words,

"Every photo has a story behind it, but the Internet separates a photo from its context, says Rey Flemings, 38, co-founder of Stipple (www.stippleit.com), a service that syndicates the data inside of a photo.
“Computers are able to read and understand text today. But when it comes to images, the computers are still blind. A machine has no clue what a group of pixels represent. Stipple is in the business of helping computers know what is in images,” says Flemings, who launched the company in June 2010. Shortly thereafter, he raised $3.5 million in Stipple’s first round of funding from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, a venture capital firm, as well as musician Justin Timberlake and other investors.

Stipple uses computer vision to help a computer obtain information from a photo. As a result, an image’s story or information stays with it as it moves throughout the Web, and that information will stay connected with the image no matter where it is published or how many times it is republished.
When a viewer mouses over a photo they can learn anything the tagger of the photo wants them to know. Publishers can add information about objects or people and even tag products for sale within an image. For example, the brand of sunglasses the subject is wearing, the price of the car they’re driving, or the cost of the vacation they are taking can all be available to the viewer. A photo can even act like a microsite containing other photos, videos, music, or tweets. That information will stay with the photograph as it is used by bloggers and by individuals on social media sites.
For photographers, Stipple provides an opportunity to earn money from display advertising, and advertisers will be able to turn images into e-commerce points of sale, build brand awareness, and collect analytics to show which photos perform best in ad campaigns. It’s free for anyone to get started, and Stipple users get 10,000 free mouseovers or engagements with their photos; after that, prices start at $25 for engagements or campaigns. The company also sells display ads inside of photos.
Flemings, who is the former president of the Memphis Music Foundation, a nonprofit organization that helps cultivate a viable music industry in the city, has worked between the realm of music and technology for several years.
Currently, Stipple is being used by more than 3,000 publishers, including sites affiliated with Time Warner and Condé Nast. When the service launched almost two years ago, Stipple was limited to a smaller group of approved brands and publishers. Now, starting this month, any small business or individual can use Stipple to tag photos.

For me this is the greatest thing since popcorn. Why? because you never lose "custody" of your image. Great for everyone who posts images on the net. They are ALWAYS traceable back to you. I love the fact you can put mini videos within the photo and that it has its own standalone analytics.

Pinterest Tools : Analytical Tools

Hi All

There have been numerous tools to provide analytical data for Pinterest.com. tools to developed to track your analytics , including how many times and item has been re-pinned who pinned it. The best times to pin, etc.I compiled a list of the ones I kept encountering.
Pinerly.com was my first first post in this series so you can find it here

I have listed the tools and singled out what is different about each tool. All will track your pins, who's sharing and how many times its shared.

1. Curlate.com measures analytics for Pinterest.com and your website.

2. Repinly.com tracks popularity on Pinterest.com

3. PinReach.com  Provides Analytics to study your influence and which of your followers is an INFLUENCER.

4.PinPuff.com Measures Pin influence and gives you a value ($) evaluation for each pin and its repinning.

5. Pinzy.com Allows you to see what the competition is posting.

6. PinAlert.com is like Google Alert for Pinterest. Set your keyword up and they will send you an alert when that keyword is triggered. The alert gives you the who what and where. I use alerts to track international trade info and international events of interest to Creatives.

7. Cyfe.com- This one I found really interesting because its an all in one dashboard that lets you track all your sites. Allows you to pull data from sources , has pre-build widgets to do this and you can do read only sharing with whomever you designate.

You can also use Google Reader by feeding your Domain source page from Pinterest. Mashable does an excellent job of walking you through how to do this with detailed pictures here
http://mashable.com/2012/03/14/pinterest-track-content/

You can play around to see which one best services your needs. I know many of you who come to my blog are internationalists and  creatives so you don't need analytics which become a job unto it self. Since being a creative also means your selling a product or services you need to know how the pin is being shared , how many times and whose influencing the share.

I've got some great info for Friday and Saturday as I wind this Pinerest series down which will help increase your sales using Pinterest. So check these tools out and leave a comment how you like them. If you are already using one or more of them, share how's it working for you. Feel free to add to this list in the comments.

See you tomorrow.

Tools for Pinterest: Pin Search

Hi All

Let's on continue on our quest to find tools for Pinterest.com to make this platform work for us.

Pin Search (for Chrome browser) is the tool for today.

This nifty little tool helps you find the site of the actual picture.

The site makeuseof.com explains its use succinctly.

"Although Pinterest provides a source for every image, we sometimes want to know more. Where else does this image appear? Where can we find similar images? The best answers to these questions can be found on Google Images, and this is where Pin Search for Chrome comes in handy.
free pinterest app
After installing the extension, a new Search button will appear every time you hover over a Pinterest Image. Clicking the search button will perform a Google Image search for the image, and open a new tab with the results, which include the image’s original size, other sizes it’s available in, where it appears and visually similar images. This is a great way to turn Pinterest into an even wider discovery tool for images."

This is great if you see an item you want to purchase and the home site has gotten "lost" in the pinning.

Go give Pin Search a spin and come back and share in the comments section.

Pinterest.com Tools: Pin-A-Quote

Hi All

Here is another tool for making Pinterest.com work for you. Pin A Quote is now ShareASImage.com. "Share As Image lets you highlight text anywhere on the web and easily convert it into an image. With the PRO version you can choose fonts, colors and text size! Once you've created your quote image, you can share it on Pinterest, Facebook or Twitter! "

Try out the free version to see the kind of things you can do with Share As Image. There is also so a pro version for $2.99

I have foxfire installed on my computer so I went to the site grabbed the icon and planted it on my toolbar. Very easy for me to install.

I went to yesterdays post, highlighted the text I wanted and then clicked the share icon on my toolbar .

After you highlight and click you're offered the option of uploading to Pinterest, Facebook or Twitter. I didn't want to do this , so I used an app called take a web screenshot. which I uploaded to paint and saved. I know you should be able to take a screen shot on your computer, but I've had to have virus removed and my computer has been tempermental every since. So this little app has been great at reducing my stress.

ShareAsImage is a great little tool for bloggers because sometime you just want to use your words. Considering how often memes (those pictures with quotes and or images) are shared across social media sites this is a great way to get your content out there and shared.

If you've used ShareAsImage.com (formerly PinAQuote) and/or Take a web screenshot leave a comment and let us know what you did with it. Leave a link so we can view your handy work.

Pinterest Tech Tools: Pinerly.com

Hi All

I promised tech tools for using Pinterest.com for business.
So you've written a great blog post, and you've got a handle on spreading the word via Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and all the other social media oldies. But what about Pinterest, the Web's newest social media heavyweight?

Pinterest, albeit relatively new to the social realm, has managed to claim a huge following in a short time. The image-driven social network has also become one of the top sources of traffic for many websites.
Not to mention... Pinterest is undoubtedly a blessing for retailers and artists because it gives them a chance to easily show off and share images of their products and creations.
However, if you're a blogger or content marketer who uses words more than pictures, generating buzz using Pinterest may not be as easy, but where there's a will, there's a way.

We'll start with four tools today.

The first tech tool to look at is http://Pinerly.com.  Pinerly works as a dashboard to grab photos, track your re-pins and whose doing the pinning.

1. Pinerly
Which of your posts hit it big on Pinterest? Which pins actually lead to a site visit? Answer all those questions (and more) with Pinerly. This tool serves as your Pinterest insights dashboard that allows you to keep track of the "repins" and "likes" that you're content is getting. Pinerly even allows you to see how many click-throughs to your site each pin received.
Pinerly is still in invite-only mode, but you can leave your email address to receive an invitation. I received mine two days after I entered my email.

2. Share As Image (formerly Pin_A-Quote)
Share As Image allows you to highlight text anywhere on a website and instantly convert that text into an image. Just grab the bookmarklet from the Share As Image website, and you're good to go.
To pin text, highlight the words or paragraphs that you wish to pin and hit the "Share As Image" button on your browser. The bookmarklet will then generate a pinnable image containing the text you highlighted.
Share As Image also has a PRO version for users who want more customization. For $2.99, you'll be able to change the quote's font, color, and background. Excellent for bloggers and word smiths. Smile

3. PinAlerts
Think of this tool as Google Alerts for Pinterest. PinAlerts gives you a heads-up via email whenever someone pins something from your site, ensuring that you never miss an opportunity to thank the people who pin your images.
As with Google Alerts, you are in charge of the frequency of your alert emails. Whether you wish to receive alerts as the pins happen, once a day, or once a week is completely up to you.

4. Pinstamatic
Pinstamatic allows you to add locations, music, quotes, Twitter profiles, and websites to your Pinterest board. If you've ever wanted to promote a Twitter account, event, or even a song on Pinterest, Pinstamatic will give you the tools to do so. The site even has an automatic post-it generator that's perfect for pinning clever quotes or lines from your blog posts.

Give these a try and check back tomorrow for more aids to use Pinterest.com to promote your business. Let me know what you think of them.
