Creation of Valentines Day Celebration
Did you know Valentines Day goes back to 496 AD? The celebration is named after Saint Valentine and was later shortened to Valentine's Day. Removed from the Roman calendar in 1969, the day was a time for lovers to express there affection for each other. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valentine's_Day
In modern times the day is used to commemorate love for each other not just lovers. The traditional of giving flowers, sweets and cards has given way to the heart shaped symbol, the winged baby Cupid and mass produced cards instead of hand written cards.
