Sunday Motivation and Inspiration May 19, 2013

Hi All!

Today's Sunday Motivation and Inspiration shares the concrete steps you have to take to manifest your best life.

How are you realizing your purpose? Are you just visualizing and praying for what you want? As the video highlights you have to take concrete laser focused ACTION.  Without action all your visualizing and praying will be for nothing. Jesus said , "Pick up your bed and walk!" Wanting, dreaming and praying are worthless without action to back them up.

What actions are you taking to manifest what you want in your life? Leave a comment and share so we all can learn.

Sunday Inspiration May 5, 2013

Hi All!

Today's Sunday inspiration and motivation comes from my youngest daughter. The Y generation has not had the freedom to walk to school and play in the street as my boomer generation did. This generation also did not have recess. A fact I still think is just plain wrong. When my kids were younger I had us all enrolled in belly dancing classes before we moved to Arizona, because of my skeletal issues. The eight years we have been in Arizona my activities have been severely curtailed because of my health. Yet My baby who had never so much as tried to dance  set out to find her sport.

Baby girl doing Circus yoga about 4 years ago.

Baby girl is smart as a whip. Her teachers love her and always ask if I can send them twenty more like her. She is a very good student.  Yet she realized that there must be balance in one's life. So baby girl (Fifteen this year) set out to find her sport. First up was volleyball in middle school. Not good. This generation also did not have recess. A fact I still think is just plain wrong.

Next baby girl tried track. Not good. I have to give her credit she did not quit no matter how many times she came in last. An interesting aside, I would be cheering like a trained seal when she came in last. I also cheered for the other kids who came in last. One such incident, one of her teammates came over and gently told me the kid was not on their team. I said okay and kept cheering. She asked why was I still cheering for the kid. I responded how would you feel if you were dead last. She and the other kids who heard the conversation started cheering the last kid on in each race. You could see the visual change on the last kids face when we started cheering them on that the could do, it keep running. Those were the quietest parents I have ever seen in my life. Yes, I was an anomaly being the only Black parent in the stands. Thankfully the season ended. Then she had to make a decision to try out for pom or cheer at her new high school. She went with pom. When we walked in the way the coach looked at us, I new Baby girl had a snowballs chance in hell of making the team. Before you try and challenge me on this one, I've been Black 58 years, so yes I know when I'm encountering racism. She didn't make it and I talked her through it.

I don't think baby girl remembers her older sister being on the church cheer team. Yet, she discovered cheer on Youtube. Baby girl became the energizer bunny to try out for a private gym. She set up an exercise regime and faithfully followed it, tried out and made the junior team. She was a backstop base. Her flyer's loved her. The one time her flyer fell the person coaching had told them to hold their spot and her flyer fell.  Baby girl's flyer had to calm her down. Baby girl swore no matter what her flyer would never hit the the ground, and they didn't. My being hit in November 2012 ended that.

Now at the end of ninth grade she tried out for cheer at her high school which was also less expensive.
She went through the three days of practice and then try outs. I said a prayer that however it turned out she would be okay with the decision. She walked through the door and said Mommy I didn't make it. I went into Mommy mode and held out my arms to hug her.  She came to me and put her head on my shoulder and after a minute said, "You're hugging the newest member of the varsity cheer team". She got me!

Baby girl knows grades have to stay at the level she is now (3.3). She has a long haul to be a reconstructive and plastic surgeon. So my take away is no matter, what follow your dreams. You will reach your goals or something better.

So what is your takeaway and how have you kept going to reach a goal. Please share by leaving a comment.

Sunday Inspiration. Don't Accept the Diagnosis

Hi All!

This is the beautiful story of one who did not accept the diagnosis and refused to GIVE UP.

I was truly inspired by this and felt his pain. Too often patients are written off and we accept the diagnosis. The biggest idea from this video is to at least try. You should not just accept what you're told, doctors are not the Creator. They are only giving you their medical opinion based on their limited knowledge. That is the best they can do. There is a higher power you can tap into it or you can give up. The choice is yours. What do you have to lose? Me, I never give up.

If you have your own story to share or just what to leave a comment feel free to do so.

Thanks,

Michelle

Beverly Bond Founder Black Girls Rock Sunday Inspiration Nov. 18, 2012

Hi All!

Today's Sunday inspiration is Beverly Bond, Founder of "Black Girls Rock".

For me the video shows one person can make a difference if you take that first step. BlackGirlsRock started from a desire (passion) Beverly Bond had to do something to work on young black girls self-esteem.Who could have imagined that BlackGirlsRock would have mushroomed like this in such a short period of time and that so many big names stars would get behind the program. If you don't take that first action than nothing will ever happen.

What's your passion? What have you been afraid to take that first small step to start? Remember if you don't take that first small step, you will always wonder what could have been. Yes, as my finger is pointing at you my thumb is pointing back at me. Smile. So, I'm going to take my small step and get the second blog going that will concentrated solely on international business. What's your small step?

What did you think of the video. You can see this year's entire program here

If you would like to find out more about  Black Girls Rock  program for young girls you can go here

Looking forward to your comments

Sunday Inspiration Richard St. John 10/14/2012

Hi All!

Today's Sunday inspiration will enlighten you and put a smile on your face. This is for all my folks in business who need encouragement to keep moving forward.

I hope you enjoyed this video. I did. I like the way Richard St John dispensed humor throughout the presentation. I love the way he used graphic and quotes. This one of the most effective presentations I watched in a long time. He hit his points and kept you laughing. That laughter which will serve as a trigger when viewing other similar material to bring his presentation to mind.

Did you receive inspiration from this video? If not why not?

Do you do inspiration or motivational  video, graphics or blog posts?

How do you use video, slides and graphics in your business?

Leave a comment sharing your story. If you have a video or blog post you'd like to share that hits any of the above questions, leave a link in your comments.

Looking forward to reading your comments.

Sunday Inspiration Surrender by Oprah Winfrey

Hi All!

Today's Sunday Inspiration comes from Oprah Winfrey. I'm not a fan because of her hangups about light complexioned Black women. I fit square  in that scenario. Yet I understand pearls of wisdom can come from any source. Enjoy.

So how have you followed the path she teaches in this  video? Have you been able to do it all? Giving up control can be hard to do so what's your story?

I'm looking forward to reading your comments.

Success How Bad Do You Want it

Hi All!

Sunday in my day for motivation and inspiration. Today's topic,"Success : How Bad Do You Want It!". Here's a great video that I really like about this topic of being willing to give your all to succeed.

I was impressed by the analogy given of how bad you had to want your success. I remember when I decided to quit working and go back to school full-time.  Out of state no less. Everyone thought I had a screw loose, except my Daddy. He asked if I was serious, I said , Yes. He paid my rent so I didn't have that to worry about. I was determined to go straight through the three years of undergrad and the three years of law school. When my friends were partying I was working 36 hours from Friday to Monday morning tracking air freight shipments, 12 hours on and 12 hours off. The building was isolated and I was the only one there. My supervisor would come in the wee hours of Sunday morning with her gun and some of her friends, they would hang out so I could sleep. I didn't know if there had been a problem at the site. She didn't say and I didn't ask.

I knew I had to finish what I had started and nothing and no one was going to stop me. I pledged a sorority in my sophomore year. I came off line and  and ran for Student Government Association. I won. I was the only the second female SGA President and the first junior in the school's 125 year history.

When I went to law school, the first week we were told, "Look to your right and look to your left, most of you won't be here in three years. I went up to the dean and introduced my self and said, "See you in three years". An I did. I worked through law school as well.

How bad do you want it? What have you given up to be successful?

What are the boundaries you will not cross to be successful? Me, I insisted on standing on my feet and not on my back to complete my mission.

Can't wait to hear your comments. Looking forward to them.
