Countdown to School starting Monday August 8
Countdown to the last days before school starts. We made a run through Fashion Square mall to my daughter's favorite stores. I bought five pair of jeans from one store, my daughter's favorite. I asked the cashier what was my bonus. She looked at me funny. I repeated it and explained , I just purchased five pair of jeans on sale, but I think I should receive some kind of bonus. She stated she couldn't include anything. Having learned from my father that the only dumb question is the one NOT asked, I requested the manager. He was standing there at the register with us the entire time. Now mind you I was being very nice and laughing as I repeatedly made the request. He said I can't include any thing. I stated, Yes you can. I am purchasing five items in one transaction. I said I sell the jewelry I'm wearing and if I have someone purchase five items in a single transaction they don't have to ask, I'm giving them SOMETHING. He said, several items and I didn't know what they were. When I asked my daughter and she told me I said, No. I was nice the entire time. He said I'll be right back.
When he returned he had three items my daughter would use. I told her to pick the one she liked. He said , No gave her all three. The also gave us a coupon for the next sale. Thank you Daddy (now an Ancestor) for teaching me not to be afraid to speak up and to ask for what I want. My Daddy taught us there are only two answers to a request Yes or NO. Maybe is a Yes with conditions. Whatever the outcome, don't take it personal.
What lesson were you taught as a child that you use to this day?
I'm going to make the "Dragon's Blood" stone into a pendant and post it probably Saturday. I have clear picture of the final design in my head so I can execute the pendant now. (Those of you who follow my blog know I can't draw a lick.)
As always you purchase my "pretties" my clicking on the title.

Playing With Copper: Circle Coils
This is the last pair of the collection I created for the gentleman who wanted to gift his South American girlfriend with some copper earrings. He purchased two pair and said my work under priced.
I took the 18 gage wire I had coiled cut it to a certain length and filed the both ends. I then hand shaped the coils into circles, created a loop for the ear wire and attached it. This is thick wire so there was no need to wrap the loop.
As always you can click on the title for more information and to purchase.
Make it a great day.

Special Order Copper Earrings
This is the last pair of the special order copper earrings I made for the gentleman to select from who was giving them to his girlfriend. he stated, I was selling to low. I appreciated that. Smile
These are 18 gage round copper wire. I coiled them, then spread the coil into the semi-circle shape. These are fun and lightweight for the thickness of the wire.
The last picture is of the totally round pair I made, so you can compare the two shapes.

My Black Onyx SASS Earrings were Featured
Tabor of Amber Pendant in SterlingSilver

Amber carved into a honeycomb flat back cabochon. This pendant can be worn by male or female. I had this cab for two years before I created this pendant. I dreamed it and then executed the design. My friend Milton Bennett who is a metalsmith sends me amber and I send him huge odd shaped freeform gemstones. I can't draw beyond stick figures, so I never sketch out the designs. I take up a piece of wire and a cabochon or other items and just start bending wire. Its weird, almost like I step outside of my self when I am creating a piece of jewelry. Just me and the wire. I had to stop making jewelry at shows because I just zone out.
I was once doing a show at a school where I had a pretty good following. I picked up a piece of wire and an almost round stone. I totally zoned out, just me and the wire. I had people at my table trying to pay me for jewelry and didn't even hear them. A teacher, who is also a seller and knew how to cash them out jumped in and started selling for me. She teased me forever about that. I call theses pieces Blessed jewelry because its not me doing them. I've looked at some of them and said, "Did I do that?" I couldn't replicate them if my life depended on it.
That particular pendant I gave to one of my longtime customers at the school who designed my blue business card and wouldn't let me pay her. She doesn't allow anyone to touch that pendant. LOL
Have you ever done anything where you felt a higher power stepped in and did it through you or for you?
You can click on the link to get details on the pendant and purchase it.
