Hi All!

Today's Treasury Tuesday is "Summer Days" by Josie Martin Mendoza of CuteandQuirklyGirl  shop on Etsy.

Don't you just love summer. Here in the desert of Arizona its summer ten months out of the year. Those 116 degree days make me yearn for a Michigan summer. What do you enjoy about summer? Leave a comment sharing your fondest memories.

Who is a Mother?

Hi All!

Mothers come in all shapes sizes and degrees. Case in point I have another Mother. My Other Mother tells her kids I'm their sister that she didn't birth. Motherhood can be communal. I know a lady who couldn't have kids, but she raised seven who had no claim to her. She's a Mother in every sense of the word. Look around you and honor those Mother's in the community who have stepped into the shoes and taken on the responsibility of Motherhood. They have filled very large shoes.

My friends who didn't have that good a female parent experience I always tell them to not hold a grudge. Some women are Mothers, their job is to get you here. Birthing you might be their sole purpose in your life.  Then you have "Mommies" their job is to coach, cheer, carry and run to the finish line with you. This woman may or may not be your birth Mother. The only thing that matters is she helped you get to where you need yo go. Love them for the part they played in your life and leave the rest alone.

Motherhood has fallen into disrepute in America and its time we re-elevate the position.I place Motherhood before police, fire and teachers as jobs that you work and will NEVER receive the pay you deserve. For Most Mother's there is no financial gain actually the opposite. You pay is hugs, kisses and a painted noodle necklace. Smile. You might even get the most important payoff, "I love you Mommy". And admit it you'd do it all over again, no matter how they turn out.

You're only got six more days until Mother's Day.  Have you purchased that special gift for VIP in you life.

Don't forget to show those special ladies just how important they are to you.

Gold Flower Hijab Pin Brooch

You can wear these to keep a scarf in place, as a brooch or whatever you heart desires. I used an antiqued pin back to make the brooch, hijab pin. I have been getting requests for these for a while so I located a supplier of the the antiqued pin backs and started making these up. I will be adding more to my wirequeenfanpage on facebook.

Scottsdale Arts Fest 2011: Two Artist On Old and One New

We attended the Scottsdale Arts Fest on Saturday. Now the second highest rated arts festival in the United States. I dragged Baby girl along to get her away from the computer. (My tweener, ever the sarcastic critic, complained that it was the same artists every year.) We then wandered into this artist booth and it was her first show ever. So can I say I discovered Tracey Saliba of Spring Flowers Studio and her "Flower Girls".  Smile These are welded metal that she turns into Flower Girls about 4 or 5 feet tall. They are Uber cute. She also does Vases and Flowers the same way. Baby Girl collects artisan flowers so she had to have one. Thanks to Tracey's art we were off and running. (Read no more this is "sooooooooooo boring") Smile. Tracy can be reached at Springflowersstudio@gmail.com

I went inside the Camera Obscura which was an awesome experience. There were three different size cameras set up. My camera skills in the darkened room do not do justice to the moving image that was reflected onto a table top. The image was crystal clear. It was a moving picture show.

Anyone who knows me knows I love color. I loved this guys work. I asked what was his favorite piece and he stated the Vase. The top one is mine. Sorry, but I can't find his name.

Scottsdale Arts Festival can be reached here: http://bit.ly/igOgna

This is Scottsdale so the weather was perfect for an outdoor show, a balmy 89 degrees with no humidity. New this year were the gourmet food trucks and the wine garden. Linda Haddad and her team as always does a marvelous job with kids section. We  decorated  made paper hats.

So much was going on this week end it was hard to decide what to do. The Ostrich Fest in Chandler (I kid you not), GoodFellows car show in Scottsdale, Devoured (All inclusive Taste fest) at the Phoenix Art Museum. These are only the ones I can think of off the top of my head.. People back home wonder why I have a hard time getting back there. Smile
