Gratitude! Are You Grateful?

Hi All!

As we zoom towards Thanksgiving here in the US (Thursday 11/22/2012), I look around at all the turmoil here and abroad I wonder,"Are Americans GRATEFUL for all that they have?". Are we grateful that we have a roof over our heads and no one is raining bombs down on us? Are we grateful that we don't have to walk miles per day to have water? (I know the water quality in the desert is not the best, but all we have to do is turn on a facet to get it.)

We have our trial and tribulations here in the US; race relations, secessionists; natural disasters; unemployment; corporate greed; taking care of those least able to take care of themselves. This last one has always distinguished Americans from people of other countries. We dig deep into our pockets to help others. No matter what their current financial situation maybe, Americans always dig in and help someone else. This American trait crosses racial, religious ethnic and legal status lines. This is truly the American Way.

So I'm going to start with what I'm grateful for :
I'm alive. Many lay down last night and did not get up this morning. Game changer, I have a new day and another chance to reach my purpose for being here.
I have no broken bones from being hit by an SUV as I was crossing the street. I could have died or been mangled.
I am not in a war zone. I have lived most of my live not being in one, with the exception of the 1967 Insurrection.
My kids are healthy and okay. I see many who are worried whether there kids will make it safety through the night.
I am able to support myself.  Of course I would want it to increase, that 's the American Way. Onward and upward.
No natural disasters in my adopted state. The closest we come to weather disasters is hail and heat.
Freedom to write this blog. Many cannot express their opinions and beliefs because to do so would mean jail and or death.

I'd like to read your comments on what you're grateful for. So post away.

Thanks,
Michelle
