Well Duh!
Analysis; Breast-feeding would save more babies. The lives of nearly 900 babies would be saved each year, along with billions of dollars, if 90 percent of U.S. women breast-fed their babies for the first six months of life, a cost analysis says.
These startling results, published online April 5, 2010 in the journal
Pediatrics, are only an estimate.
"The health-care system has got to be aware that breast-feeding makes a profound difference", said Dr. Ruth Lawrence, who heads the American Academy of Pediatrics breast-feeding section. (AZ Republic, April 5, 2010, National Briefs-Chicago. pA2)
My Analysis: Yes, they know, but you can't make M-O-N-E-Y off of breast-feeding mommies. You can't make money off babies who are not allergic to everything in creation. I'm sure the figures are much higher for the babies who would not be sick, colic, underweigh, etc.
Just my humble opinion after all. I only nursed my girls for 11 and 23 months respectively and I had none of the problems I see chemical milk babies have.
I know many of us have to go back to work after 2-6 weeks, but nurse during that timeframe. If you can pump do it for at least six weeks. I couldn't pump, it didn't work for me, so I nursed. Do what you can as best you can. Lets be upfront about it, yes it feels the same as when your honey is on your breast. If your feel arkward call LeLeche and get expert, wonderful help. My mother didn't nurse any of her seven and she freaked out when I decided to nurse. The La Leche trainerwas wonderful in helping me to cope with her without disrepecting her or strangling her. :)
