My Thoughts On The Season

Hi All!

The day set aside to celebrate the birth of Jesus of Nazareth is almost here. The sad thing is there is very little celebration of his birth. Or as the pundits say, "The reason for the season". We are inundated with the massacre in Newtown, Connecticut (pray for those left behind). There have been four other incidents involving guns and schools. Talk of the "Fiscal cliff". Lets just jump off the cliff and see what happens. The papers are full of articles that People aren't buying enough "stuff". The stories that celebrate folks helping folks are few and far apart. Guess they aren't important.

Maybe its just me, feeling melancholy after being hit by a truck as I was crossing the street. At this point in my life its taking longer to recover than I would like.

My viewpoint is for 2012 to have been a cleansing/purging  year so that we can go into 2013 stronger , focused and determined to get our country back on track.

I really would like to see more spiritually come back into this the season and that it not be just about conspicuous consumption. How are you getting through the season? I know for some people this is a very hard time spiritually; No family nearby; missing departed loved ones.

What are you doing to celebrate the season? Are you celebrating at all? Leave a comment and share your thoughts on what is important and how are you coping.
