Wealth Management Presentation

Yesterday, I attended a wealth management program at Modern Steak in Scottsdale Fashion Square mall. I was invited by Diana Gregory (dianagregory.com) daughter of legendary life guru Dick Gregory. Diana is a serial entrepreneur and one of the nicest folks you will ever meet. The host of the program was Kelvin Boston host of PBS Moneywise. Shows how life goes full circle I remember when he started out in Detroit many years ago. The event was excellent. Modern Steak out did themselves on the food. The panelists assembled were excellent to help you keep and secure your finances in this rough economic. I have to put a plug in for my lawyer Charlene Tarver of the Tarver Law Group who specializes in trusts and estates law. No fluff but practical info you can put to  use now. The schedule for 2012 is not up on the site so check back to see if they are coming to your city and make sure you attend. You won't regret it.

My Comments Were Included in Arizona Republic Nov 24 2011

I almost missed this article. I saw a blurb in the newspaper asking readers to explain why they live in the Scottsdale area. I responded and went back and forth by email with the reporter. Then I forgot about it (it was a month ago.) . I take the daily paper and missed the article.I was going back through the paper for a looking for an ad to an event I wanted to attend when I spotted my name.

So now I'm published again. Smile. You never know how things will turn out so If you have the opportunity to make your voice hear, do it.

You can click on the title to read the article.

You can also click on my etsy mini to the right to shop a small business this weekend. If you text "jewelry" to 41242 you will receive a nice bonus to my shop. Smile

Enjoy this holiday weekend.

Today Give Thanks and CHOOSE Gratitude

Today, No matter what your circumstances are choose GRATITUDE and give THANKS that you woke up this morning. Many who lay down last night could not rise this morning, but you did, so give
THANKS. I know many are not where they want to be through whatever circumstances you may have encountered, but you eyes opened this morning so you have a chance to change the circumstances.

We can't change the past. Today is a new day with a clean slate. Are you going to rewrite the past on this slate or are you going to write what you want your present or your future to be? The choice is yours to stay stuck in the quicksand of the past that you may not have had any control over or are you going to CHOOSE to be the Captain of the ship and run it.

Me, I like to run things probably  even when I shouldn't. Yet if I'm to get the blame and you will, I might as well call the shots. Smile

So  choose to leave the past in the past and write what you want on this blank slate.

CHOOSE to move forward and give THANKS that you have a CHOICE.

Being Hospitalized Is No Fun

Yeah Yeah I know you're supposed to take care of yourself, but I like most Mothers and small business owners end up putting self last. Not wise. I put off going to the dentist and a tooth abscessed. The jaw started swelling Thursday evening. Friday morning I started calling dentist offices, of course on Veteran's Day everything was closed. Saturday morning 7:30 a.m. I went to emergency. Think Eddie Murphy in the Nutty Professor Makeup with a whole chew of tobacco in one jaw. They gave me antibiotics and sent me home with the admonishment if it was getting better to come back. Monday I was swollen even larger now add in the throat. I walked into emergency at 7:30 am and was admitted, they immediately went to work. Strangely , I really didn't have much pain.

I also have hyper thyroid ism, which can be tricky to treat, that they were equally concerned about. A normal function thyroid reading is between 1-5. Mine was 23 so they were very concerned. Which explains why I have had no energy. The oral surgeon came and saw me and wanted to wait a day before making a decision. He came back the next day and because the antibiotics seemed to be doing the job decided not to operate. (Thank you Allah). I was released Wednesday. I have to take these huge pills which are the antibiotics. I have a 7:30 appointment at the dentist this morning to have the tooth pulled per the oral surgeon's recommendation. I'm still hoping it doesn't have to be pulled now that the antibiotics are doing their job. I still haven't had any pain that's why I keep hoping the tooth can be saved.

So , the moral of the stories kiddies is you have to make the time to take care of you. Yes, I know its costs time and money to do preventive care but aren't we worth it?

This goes out especially to the Mommies, you can't put you last. As Mommy goes so goes the family, you got to take care of you.

Take care.

Life's Travail's Problems with putting yourself last.

I woke up yesterday Veteran's day with a swollen jaw. Of course all the dentist office's are closed. I didn't want to go to emergency so I thought I'd wait till today. Swelling started going down yesterday evening. Good. I can wait Saturday to see a dentist. Woke up this morning at 4:30 am and jaw is swollen 2x's larger than yesterday and now has very distinctive sore spots. Waiting till 8am so can take B'girl to sitter than I'm headed to doctor's office or emergency.

Neither a doctor or a dentist will be able to do anything but give me antibiotics. So no point in putting it off. I normally go to a natural path as I have had better success on curing ailments with them than AMA doctors. If I have a health issue I want it CURED not bandaged if at all possible.

So I probably won't be posting the rest of the weekend. I didn't get my Veteran's Day resource list posted will put that up for Monday. To all the Veterans and active members of the armed forces. Thank you for keeping America safe.

Yes I finally made 10,000 views

Yes. I finally made 10,000 views. I know some of you get this per day, but for me this is a milestone.I used my blog and the wirequeen moniker to learn how to use social media and internet marketing.

When I set up my blog I was in kindergarten. Now I feel like a high schooler or at least middle school. I've even gotten my Klout.com score as high as 45, which I consider pretty darn good considering I don't have a lot of followers in anyone social media. I tried to go after quality not quantity so I could actually talk to people. My pages and facebook and Twitter are like the United Nations , every body's included. I have people on my Facebook page who I wouldn't go along with their beliefs if you paid me and they feel the same way about mine. Some of these people I actually know personally and have known for years. We agree to disagree, doesn't stop us from liking each other. Hmmm wonder if we could start a class for politicians to show then how its done.

Anyway I'm a happy camper to have made this milestone. Have you recently reached a milestone. Please share?

As always you can click on the title to purchase my "pretties". Remember 10% of my sales are being donated to Turkey's earthquake relief. Smile

I missed posting yesterday. Trade briefing and New Product

I hate when that happens. I started a post got distracted and didn't get back to finish the post. I attended a briefing yesterday by a small business selling pharmaceuticals overseas. What I really liked was that they went after the premium market. I liked the company and product so much I asked to be an affiliate. I am trying out the product and having a couple of other families from other countries test the product. If all goes well I will set up an affiliate link the first of the year.

You will notice I don't have a lot of banners on my site. Yes, I'm a control freak, but I also am not going to have something flashing on my site that I have not tested or would not buy. Yes, I do like money, I'm just not that hard up for it. Smile

Speaking of money, from now through December 31, 2011, I will be donating 10% of my sales to Turkish relief efforts (Probably to the Red Crescent.  I am still a a loss as to why Turkey is not receiving the same help as other countries (Haiti and Japan) that have had natural disasters. Then again, that might be in Turkey's advantage.  (How much help has the average Haitian actually received).

As always you can click on the title to make purchases.

Ya!! We went to the State Fair

I almost slipped up and missed posting. I have got to get back on track in posting everyday. We missed the polo party but made the State Fair. Neither myself nor B'girl wanted to get up Saturday. We didn't leave going to the State Fair until 3 almost 4 pm. It's been nearly 25 years since I've been to a state fair. Yes, we did the fried food circuit, but the most exotic food was B'girl's fried Twinkie.

We did the game section and I even got on some rides with her like Evolution. A euphoric experience I will not be repeating. On a giant Ferris wheel ride that took you 100 ft. in the air you had a beautiful view of Phoenix spread out in front of you. Magnificent.

Today, I didn't even read the paper until 8am. Smile My bones were going ," Yeah, its our turn" so I have been pretty stationary most of the day. Next week is a long one so I listened to my body and did not push it.

I made lunch and I'm going back to lie down as I have an early trade event tomorrow at 7:30 am. Dinner will be vegetable pizza or a big salad.. After all those fried goodies yesterday the body needs a rest.

B'girl is a happy camper. Memories made.

What did you do to get your family away from the electronics and out making memories.? Please share.

Taking your Own Advise Smile

Yes, I took my own advise and got out the house. My neighbor was going to a resale shop and invited me to go along. I AM NOT A Shopper, but since I didn't have to drive I went. She hit every garage sale we saw between our street and the resale shop. I got some interesting finds that I will share this weekend. I'm taking pictures this morning while I the lighting is good and then its off to the polo party. I was too tired to make the State Fair, so I'll have to go the last day Sunday after Eid prayer.

I'm supposed to go to my Scottsdale Leadership Class XXII reunion this evening. Send me energy so I'll have enough to attend. Smile

We've got dust storm warnings here in the Valley and if you've never been in one you can't imagine what its like. So we've see how this affects the weekends activities. I'll be posting pictures of my loot and the events of the weekend on Sunday and Monday. I'm going to need Monday and Tuesday to rest from the weekend. Smile

Get out and make memories.

Movie Premier: MaryMarcyMayMarlene

I attended the Premier of this movie last night not sure what to expect. The basic story is told through flashbacks which really worked here.

The lead character is a young girl who you are not quite sure why she's where she is. You're left wondering also until the flashbacks start. The plot surprisingly is a about a cult and how you people are sucked in to these things. Before you start sprouting off that this couldn't happen to my kid, think again. This movie is like a road map for parents on how easily your kids can get swept in
The subject matter is timely considering law enforcements recent announcements on how they are changing the way they are finally reviewing child prostitute and similar crimes where the victim was being prosecuted.

When reunited with her family the kid has shall we say some serious adjustment problems. She is unable to share what she has experienced.

Parents go see this movie and them break it up to explain to your kids how easily such things can happen. The movie provides many talking points to start.

If this review is somewhat nebulous its because I want you to go see it and then share with your kids this very relevant and complex subject.

Let me know what you think.

Yes. I'm going to do it again 30days of blogging. I haven't done this in a while so I'm going to go for the gold and do it for November. I will be transitioning  wirequeen brand back under the Amazon Trading Company (Amazon TC)as I restart my trading  in the waning months of this year.
