The Google+ Project

“It’s not Facebook… but it’s like Facebook”. Google has finally unveiled Google+, the company’s top secret social layer that turns all of Google into one giant social network. Google+, which begins rolling out a very limited field test on Tuesday, is the culmination of a year-long project led by Google Senior Vice President of Social Vic Gundotra. The project, which has been delayed several times, is — without doubt — Google’s answer to Facebook. Check out the clip above

Ma was from Siam Pa was from Persia Win $10 gift certificate

Meet Tiger. She picked us when she was a kitten and she's been dominating the house ever since. Her Mother was a full blood Siamese and her father was a full blood white Persian. The vet said her markings make her a CALICO. We named her Tiger because of the markings on her face. I wanted to give her the Persian name for Tiger but all the sites kept giving it to us in Farsi which I can't read. A magican doing an act in Neiman Marcus of all places gave us the translation for Tiger. I think he said it was BOHA.

Win a $10.00 gift certificate if you can name the modern day countries of Siam and Persia. You have to leave a comment on this post and join my email list. You have until Sunday June 25 at midnight (est) to answer. I will use randomizer.org to pick the winner from the entries. The gift certificate can only be used in my shop at wirequeen.com

MANDATORY:

Day 30 Thankful Challenge I am thankful I was able to complete this challenge

Hi There!

Today is the last day of the 30 day I AM THANKFUL FOR challenge for me. You can start your own challenge today. This is great for helping you to remember the many things we have to be thankful for no matter where you live or your current life situation. Many times we get so hung up on what we think we're missing that we forget the blessings of what we have. This challenge is a good way to refocus us from pessimism to positive.

I titled my last challenge that way because there have been a lot of people I know who have recently become ancestors. We never know what the future holds. We can plan but Allah  is the best planner. I am not saying that to stop you from planning but don't be so rigid and stuck to your plan that you miss opportunities. Keep your plan in mind but if an opportunity comes your way see how it might fit into your overall life goals. You do have life goals? Right? Smile

This challenge has been so good for me because it has helped me to stay positive even when I had someone come at me in a negative matter. How's that you ask? When someone has come at me from a racist/insulting/stupid mode I have been able to immediately shift to Lord I'm thankful I'm not carrying that person's burden. More importantly it has helped me to not pick up or hold on to that negative situation/energy which is a blessing in itself. When someone comes at you from one of those modes their  point is to refocus you on that negative situation. When you are brooding over who what or why that happened you have lost your focus. Don't fall into the trap of giving nonsense energy. Instead look for a lesson in that interaction and then drop the rest. I know! I know! Sometimes its easier said then done, but you have to do it or lose focus.

Try the 30 day I AM THANKFUL FOR Challenge and let me know how it turns out for you.

As always you can click on the title to go to my new shop and shop. Smile

Happy Father's Day to Fathers AND Moms doing double duty.

Peace

Day 29 Thankful Challenge : Social Media

Today is Day 29 of the Thankful Challenge. I am thankful For SOCIAL MEDIA.

I have met many wonderful people through Social Media. I've learned a lot that I would not have known were it not for social media.  I think that is one the greatest benefit of Social Media the sharing and realizing we all have something to contribute. My page is like the United Nations. You will find people with all kinds of backgrounds and viewpoints. The only thing I request is that folk keep it civil or I will remove you. We have to respect each other and agree to disagree.  I have enjoyed seeing people who on the surface have nothing in common reaching consensus around a common event.

The fellows rooting for their home teams and arguinging over whether some player should do one thing or another. Watching brush fires and false rumors being put to rest because someone repeated a rumor and was challenged to prove it. Seeing the word get out so fast when a wrong has been committed and mobilizing people to respond to that wrong other than tsk, tsking. This is the blessing of social media.

Last night I met two people who are on my facebook page. Now I know a wonderful painter (I will be doing a feature Monday on her in July) and a poet. I have been invited to review a book of poems and to attend a recital of the poetry. Would that have happened without social media, who knows.

Now for the not so good side. I have been cussed out because I am a Muslim. I have been attacked because a person trying to "reinvent themselves" took offense at something I wrote which was about me not them. Lastly the "Noise Factor", I'm social media out. I'm am not joining another Blipping thing; I do not play games; I do not "fake" farm; I'm not giving another application access to my page.

I am currently unsubscribing from a lot of things that seemed interesting at the time but the noise factor from it has become overwhelming and is taking too much time from my core which is international trade and creating my jewelry. I will always be a foodie so I have to keep that open. The rest will have to fall by the way side unfortunately or it can become all consuming and nothing gets done.

So where are you in the Social Media stratosphere?

As always you can click on the title to shop. Smile

Have a great weekend.

Build A Business Contest

This is an awesome contest to build a  business. Please read the contest rules carefully. Unfortunately, I cannot enter because I live in Arizona or I would have been all over this. This is the second year of the contest. Get in there and try. If you don't try you can't succeed. If you don't win you have still gained a lot.

If you win remember where you learned about it and send me a thank you gift. Smile

Wings to Fly Summer Camp

I picked up Babygirl from camp yesterday. Wings to Fly was an awesome experience for her. The all girls camp is focused on giving girls tools to help then navigate through life.

They have six pillars that they work on:

1. Connection

2. Clean Communication

3. Compassion

4. Higher Purpose

5. Participation

6. 100% Responsibility

The girls left with friendships made and a toolbox to work from. The parents were given an hour long debriefing of who had spoken to our kids and the subject matter. What we could do to keep the experience going?

The camp has the most awesome food. Who knew a camp with great food.

Today My Baby's Coming Home

Today my Baby girls coming home from sleep over camp. She's been gone all week. As I was leaving she called out, "Go get a massage and get out the house". The camp counselors chided in and echoed her remark. I smiled.

Its very easy as a single mom raising a family and running a business to get in a runt and not take me time. Yet me time is very necessary whether you're single or married. Mommy is the nucleus of the family as she goes so goes the family. So it becomes very important that we take time to "breath, center ourselves and find that happy balance to keep us sane".

Oh Yeah, didn't get the massage but I did get out the house. Wednesday I went to the Armitige's 15th Anniversary party in North Scottsdale (its south of Pinnacle Peak so its still south Scottsdale but we won't tell) They know how to throw a party. Thursday I went to a Raven's fundraising event. This one was held at the Home Design Center on Pima Road in Scottsdale. Awesome stuff. The Florist in there had the most unusual plants. They were gorgeous. He had a new strain of roses from Holland that were lilac. Yes, lilac. A beautiful color and the petal edges were a deeper shade of lilac. Simply awesome. Friday Etsy sellers were having crafting events worldwide. I attended the one in Tempe I didn't set up or demonstrate. I hung out with some of the other local etsy sellers I knew. I crafted two cards with doilies. I'll have to take pictures. I had a lot of fun. So I  can say I got out the house. Smile

CHALLENGE 30 Days Positive only

Hi All

I've been doing a 30 day challenge on facebook to state every day what you are thankful for. After reading so many posts by Black Folks that were all phased in the negative, even those things that were positive information, I decided to issue this challenge. Everyone can do it, but I wanted to particularly issue it to Black Folks.

For 30 days You have to speak, write, and comment in the positive. Can you do it. We know it takes 30 days to create a habit, lets see if we can move from pessimist to optimist, from negative to positive. Yes, right here in America.

I am not asking you to sugar coat anything just go for the positive spin.

I'm almost finished with my website so I'll be giving the addy for that soon. I don't want any more folks to "Get Lost".

Love Ya'll

Feature Monday Lining Up Artists for Summer

I've been MIA lately, had to get get B'girl off to camp. Lining up artists for the rest of summer so I can get them scheduled. Making new pieces. Preparing for fall season. Planning takes time, but sometimes its best to stop, review where you are and see what changes need to be made. What's that saying, "Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result."

Lets stay sane people. Smile

I'm going to have some interesting artists this summer who are pushing the enevolope and others who are more mainstream but have followed their own vision. I like to mix things up and especially look through the glasses of another person to get a different prespective. This helps you to grow and stretch, since each of us has walked a different path to get to this day and time.

I'm doing more mixed media and fiber art this summer. I'll have to get my goodies photographed (not my strongest skill). My website is almost done which I'll anounce once its ready. I don't want to do any promotions or giveaways until I can send folks to my site.

My background is in international trade so I've reentered that market. I'll be bringing you info from around the world that impacts the arts.

I still want to enjoy B-girl being out this summer, looking forward to just hanging out.

Check back and make sure you like us on facebook and sign up my newsletter.
